Does drone cleaning scratch solar panels or glass?

Scratches come from grit, not from water

Anti-reflective coatings and tempered glass are tough. What they do not like is a brush pushing desert dust across the surface. That grit is sandpaper. Traditional crews often wet, then scrub. The dirt becomes the abrasive.

Drone cleaning, done correctly, never does that. The aircraft holds a precision boom a safe standoff from the glass and lays down a fan of purified water. Film and mineral haze lift and sheet off. Nothing is ground in.

Why purified water matters

Tap water leaves mineral rings when it dries. Those rings are not scratches, but they shade cells and look like a poor wash. Deionized / purified water has the minerals removed, so it dries clean on coatings and anodized frames.

Chemicals are the exception, not the default. If biological staining needs more than water, it is called out in the quote before anything else is used.

The aircraft never lands on the array

We do not set a drone on your modules to refill. The water is tethered from the ground, so volume stays up and the glass never takes the aircraft’s weight. That is also why warranties stay intact — manufacturers object to foot traffic, not to a rinse from the air.

Pressure is controlled. This is not a 3,000 PSI driveway blaster aimed at a junction box. It is a wash pattern designed for glass.

What we will not fly

Cracked modules, loose flashing, or a roof that is already failing get a note, not a blast. If the surface is wrong, you hear that before we spool up. Declining a job is cheaper than grinding grit into a coating.

Do you use brushes at all?+

No. The default is purified water only. Brushes turn dust into sandpaper. That is the failure mode we designed out.

Will this void my solar warranty?+

Walking the array is what voided warranties are written about. We never land on the glass and we never send a technician across the string.

What about windows and curtain wall?+

Same method: controlled purified water, no abrasive contact. Hotels and offices stay occupied. Interior access is not required.
